For several thousands of years, the "Fairies" have dwelt in "Fairyland". Themselves they do not call "Fairy" but rahter "Flori di Estelle" which menas "Star Flowers" and over the tens of centuries has come to be said as "Florestelle" Their world which they moved to from here 80 hundreds of years ago. they do not call "Fairyland" but "Monda di Aurea" which means "World of Gold". This last comes from when the fourndress of their way of life moved them from their original home in our world, to it "in the interstices of the twists of Dimension and Extension" and said "It is like a newly made gold coin before it is struck..." and over the same millenia has come to be called "Mondiaurea. Of themselves, they say that they were created by Malicia, an evil sorceress who fell from the sky, or perhaps through the Ages, with some of her powers and her language, to do her bidding. Malicia departed as mysteriously as she came and her return is anticipated with the utmost dread: "...Even the plains at far Megedo shall quiver and be broken and crumbled unto a moonscape, and the Moon split, as the Peoples shal send forth the Fires from the very heart of the Ominverse. We against Her and Her minions and She and hers against Us: Who can hope to stand through all of this?" goes the legend from before their exodus from our world. After overthrowing the evil that was of them, they felt bad for the things that they had inflicted upon the "ordinary" people of their time and left this world. To return as friends "...when the memory of our wickedness has grown pale and wan, like a faded flower" Nor are they small, winged "bug People", for even with magic, such could not endure the rigors put on them by the needs of such a body. They are instead. tall ladies, fair and extremely girlish of appearance and voice, gentle of manner and bright and effervescent of disposition. very long-lived and commanding many powers. Yet some can be and are still very evil, and even a good one can be annoyed to the point of striking out at her tormentress, which they then prefer to do by means of their bodily strength, sufficient to do down a large, strong person, more than "the Fire of the Omniverse": "In all things, my powers speak from the Omniverse; my hands speak for me".

fter the reign of Andrielle, Liselle's great granddaughter, came Andrielle II, then Melindra. After Melindra came Tiara I. Tiara re-introduced the Fairies to the other peoples as had been commanded by Liselle. Tiara took to herslf Darylette to be princess and next queen. In her time, it was customary for the Fairy. or, as they call themselves, Flora de Estelle, to wear on her head a coronet. Being made of metal and crystal, it showed that they were an advanced people. Sitting atop the head, it showed that they valued Intellect and Mentality. This was before they developed the custom of having all those names as they do now.

It was made by Andrielle II that each Fairy should serve from her eigth to her ninth birtday as a page in the palace. At the time the Fairies were few enough in number so that this was needed and practical. and Tiara had been one such page in the court of Melindra. Upon the week of their ninth birthday, all Fairy pages whose birthday fell in that week were to attend two ceremonies. The first was a special ceremony attended by the queen and her aides and pages at which the best page was given a replica of the queen's sceptre. Then a Farewell ceremony at the end of the week at whicn the families of the pages would be.

Tiara was a genuine person and queen, having neither false modesty nor the haughtiness that puts the "pain" in "royal pain". She was heard to say, as her term as Queen was nearing its 25th and final year. as was the law, "I cannot wait to be a person again". She was much loved and of her only good could be said and would be said. If she were not what she was, she would not have left such a big mark upon Fairyland, as they call it: Monda di Aurea. She was quick to laugh and her laughter was the pride of Fairyland, When brought to anger, she was quite given over to it and the person or thing that did earn her wrath got more than for what she bargained. Though devoid of deceit. she had guile and gave truth to Andrielle's saying. "To lie to a liar, speak the truth and let her run herself though on it".

Just as Tiara had been a page under Melindra, Melisandra was one of her little pages. As with all Fairy pages Melisandrs's mother made for her a coronet to wear. The stones of this little crownlet were cut by Melisandra's mother, Lady Doriette to the shape of stars. Because of this and Melisnadra's bright spirit. Tiara called her "Melisandra Stellita" or just "Stellita"("Little Star"). It was plain for all to see that Milisandra would win the Sceptre and only two persons disliked her, Darylette (Whom Tiara was sorry she adopted) and a nasty little page named Pearlestra.

When the day of the sceptre ceremony came near, Darylette said to Pearlestra with whom she was friends "How would you like to fix that Litte Star's wagon for good and all?". Pearlestra said "If anything happens to her, I shall be blamed. For all know that there is a dagger between us".

Darylette said "No, since I was careful not to show how I despise her You can be elsewhere while I do something that will embarrass her to pieces in front of just everyone". So the two kissed on it.

Upon the Day of the Sceptre, while Pearlestra was in the waiting room, Darylette tampered with Melisandra's coronet while the beloved page had it off and was fixing some part of her appearance and no one was looking. Since she had kept her dislike to herself, no one would suspect Darylette. Melisandra's coronet was like all the others in that there were 4 parts that stood up, each of these parts was a filligree of stones and rose gracfully to a point. It was plain to see that Lady Doriette went through great effort.

At the ceremony, as was the custom, Melisandra, when her name was called went and knelt before Queen Tiara, took the sceptre with her right hand and with her left took the hem of Tiara's gown and bent to kiss it and her coronet fell. In her sadness, shame and terror, she began to cry.

"Dearest one" said Tiara, "what is wrong"

"My mother. Lady Doriette took grat pains to make this. when she sees what has happened, I shall be made to wear rubber diapers for just ever!" answereed Melisandra.

Tiara said "Oh no, we shall not have that at all." She then called to her keeper of crownlets and when they picked up the coronet they found that three of the sides were broken and the lady said, "My Queen, these are broken beyond rapair, I fear".

"Oh now, whatever shall I do?" mused Tiara. Then she took the crownlet, looked at it and said "hmmm" and broke off the three broken parts so now only one section rose gracfully to the point.

Tiara looked again at it and said. "I like this. It is not too much yet not too little." and as she gave it to the crown attendant said "Remove the debris of the brakage to the band. Also do the same with my princess coronet and with Darylette's".

Overly proud little Darylette said "No!" but when Tiara looked at her sternly and she knew she would be punished, she added "...no, not bad at all". "Besides" continueed Tiara "It will make you look cuter and more lovable amd goodness knows you could use that. At the farewell ceremony you and I and Stellita shall wear our 'new' headpiece, what do you think of that?" Darylette just stood quietly afraid to speak for fear that she had been found out.

At the Farewell Ceremony, Lady Doriette cast her eyes upon her daughter and the first thing she noticed was the now half-crown and said angrily "Melisandra?! Just WHAT have you done to the lovely star coronet I took such great pains to make?". Tiara, in her own half-crown stood and said, somewht annoyed. "She has done nothing. I have made her coronet into a princesses headpiece like mine and like I did with Darylette's. She has been a princess of a page so she deserves it. Besides," she added sheppishly "I was holding and admiring it and dropped it so I made the others like that of Page Princess Melisandra Stellita".

Angrily, Lady Doriette said "You removed my daughter's coronet without my permission!?"

Tiara responded "But not without hers and you were not about. I was not going to dispatch a crystal bird to carry a request to do so as it was such a small matter" then added pointedly " and since I am sure you have a life, I was certain that you would not be hovering around your message-stone after the fashion of a gossip". This last said in the manner of a bee sting

Both aghast and feeling somewhat like she was being made sport of, Lady Doriette said sweetly but with an edge just sharp enough to cut slightly, "Oh, and what do you call this wonderful new headpiece?"

All fell silent even Tiara, unlike herself, did not know what to say, for she did not think it would come to this.

Melisandra jumped up, ran to, and threw her arms about the person who had just saved her from a week of rubber punishment and said. "Let us call it after the bestest queen ever!".

Lady Doriette said incredulously "A..a...Tiara.?!"

Seeing where this was going, and being genuinely modest, the queen said "Oh, no. I couldn't... I mean...".

"Tiara! Tiara!" squealed a delighted Melisandra, "A lovely, wonderful tiara!"

So that is what it is called. and the Queen became known as Tiara the Bestest.
